About the role
The position is a temporary, full-time (1.00 FTE) Grade 7 CORE & Other Teacher at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School, Kitimat, BC. The start date is September 1, 2026, or the return of the incumbent, whichever is earlier. This position may be subject to a gradual return to work plan.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for).
- Experience teaching students at all grade levels.
- Working knowledge of the learning standards, curricular competencies, and core competencies within the revised BC Curriculum.
- Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, and emotional learning difficulties.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Ability to relate well with students, parents, and staff members.
- Committed to following the goals and strategies outlined in the school and district framework for enhanced learning.
Requirements
Interested applicants are required to supply a cover letter, resume, and three (3) professional references. Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) or eligibility to obtain must also be provided. A Teacher Qualification Card is mandatory.
Benefits
- Salary as per collective agreement, current salary grid is $59,867 - $110,712 (based on 1.00 FTE).
- $1,000 - $5,000 relocation allowances for teachers from other areas (conditions may apply).
- $3,035 Recruitment and Retention allowance for all teachers (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on FTE).
- Isolation Allowance for remote communities: Hazelton - $1,213, Kitwanga - $1,441, Stewart - $4,547 (paid over 10 months of the school year).
- Medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance benefits as per the collective agreement.
Pay
Salary range: $59,867 to $110,712 (based on 1.00 FTE, previous experience and TQS Category placement).

Full-time, contract/term position starting September 1, 2026, or the return of the incumbent, whichever is earlier.
