About the role

The Hubbell Internship Program is a 10 to 12-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of the business, and prepare for a rewarding career at Hubbell. This intern will focus on advancing Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives by supporting the implementation of the Hubbell Manufacturing System (HMS) and contributing to Building 1 Steel Department's HMS Bronze Certification efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze operational data to support business decisions
  • Conduct process assessments and facilitate kaizen events
  • Support 5S and visual management programs
  • Maintain standard work documentation
  • Track certification-related action items
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and waste reduction
  • Support P&P and Utility Riser departments in sustaining and advancing HMS practices toward Silver Certification
  • Drive measurable operational improvements
  • Gain hands-on experience in Lean Manufacturing and manufacturing system deployment

Qualifications

  • Full-time enrollment in an accredited college or university throughout the internship program period (May–August 2027), pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree related to the internship
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Strong interest in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, and manufacturing operations
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across production and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, quality systems, or manufacturing processes is preferred but not required
  • Prior project-based coursework, involvement in student organizations, manufacturing experience, or previous internships is a plus

Pay

Intern compensation is determined based on academic standing and expected graduation date. Hourly rates for this position range from $22.50 to $29.00 per hour ($46,800–$60,320 annualized equivalent).
