Operations Manager
Description Of Primary Responsibilities
Participates in the development and implementation of the company’s strategic plan
Executes the water and/or wastewater operations department annual operations plan
Manages and supervises operations staff
Develops and maintains contracts and professional relationships with operations clients.

Professional & Technical Knowledge
- Possesses general work-related skills consistent with a high school education or equivalent, including written and verbal communication, computational, and computer skills, and mathematical knowledge.
- Possesses knowledge of wastewater treatment and pumping plant equipment and associated problems and processes.
- Possesses knowledge of wastewater collection systems, their equipment, and state, federal, and local regulations.
- Possesses knowledge of sampling methods, physical and chemical tests, and safety practices.
- Possesses knowledge of preventive maintenance, rehabilitation, and repair techniques.
Technical Skills
- Reads and interprets meters and gauges, records readings, and maintains operation records
- Maintains operation records
- Uses basic mechanic hand and power tools
- Uses scheduling software programs
- Uses computerized maintenance software (Ops 10/Antero/Field Aware/SCADA)
- Prepares complex documents in Microsoft Word, including tables, charts, and graphs
- Uses Microsoft Excel to analyze data, including formulas, functions, lookup tables, and other standard spreadsheet elements
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid driver’s license
- State of Hawaii Grade IV WWTP Operator License or Grade II WTP License and Grade II DSO License

- Communicates with clients on operations matters
- Communicates opinions and extrapolations of information collected and analyzed
- Resolves conflicts arising from disagreements among employees, between employees and clients, or with the public, other legal entities, or governmental authorities
- Convinces others to take actions or behave in a specific way desired by the employee
- Compiles, analyzes, and prepares information in an effective written form, including correspondence, reports, articles, or other documentation
Physical Demands
- Meets health and physical condition standards for job performance
- Exposure to hazardous, filthy, and/or obnoxious conditions
- Subject to shift, weekend, and holiday work
- Required to respond to emergency call-outs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (50#) and other manual work under adverse conditions
Pay
Pay Range: $53.70 - $68.51 per hour
Annual incentive bonus with an earning potential of 16% of base pay.
