About the role

PIMCO U.S. Global Wealth Management (U.S. GWM)’s mission is to create industry leading experiences for financial intermediaries and their individual investor clients while making a strong contribution to PIMCO’s overall business results. The Strategic Accounts team within U.S. GWM builds and expands PIMCO’s largest intermediary clients (e.g., national and regional broker-dealers, banks, platforms). As an intern, you will act as a strategic partner, providing customized investment solutions and services to meet the unique needs of these key clients.

This dynamic role requires collaboration with teams across the firm, including Product Strategy, Portfolio Management, Sales, Marketing, Legal & Compliance, and Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on market trends, competitor offerings, economic indicators, and investment products to support the team’s ability to differentiate PIMCO’s solutions for clients.
  • Use data analytics tools to analyze client portfolios, investment performance, and market data to service existing clients and support internal strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in the development and execution of client business plans in collaboration with GWM stakeholders, including sales and product strategy teams.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  • Must be able to begin full-time employment from a PIMCO office between January 2028 – August 2028.
  • Must be enrolled at a university during the Fall 2027 semester (August 2027 – December 2027).
  • Minimum 3.3 cumulative collegiate grade point average, on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent, at an accredited 4-year college or university.
  • Business proficiency in English.

Qualifications

  • Possess a growth mindset by problem-solving, demonstrating curiosity, and thinking creatively about how to contribute to the success of the broader business.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in financial markets, macroeconomics, and investments through relevant coursework, certifications, internship/work experience, or participation in professional organizations and campus clubs.
  • Articulate ideas and strategies clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct research and analyze complex data to identify trends and draw meaningful insights; proficiency in financial modeling is a plus.
  • Possess a solid foundation in finance and economics, along with familiarity with financial statements and basic investment concepts.
  • Ability to develop client relationships into strategic partnerships and an interest in a client-facing finance career.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Curiosity and experience in using emerging technologies and AI tools to solve problems and drive better outcomes.

While eligibility requirements are firm, candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not possess 100% of the desired skills. Full-time members of the Strategic Accounts team must pass FINRA series exams, and some pursue further credentials such as an MBA or CFA.

Internship Experience

  • 10-week program running from early June to mid-August, with full-time availability expected.
  • Week 1 includes PIMCO Fundamentals Training to build foundational skills, knowledge, and relationships.
  • Participation in PIMCO's Global Month of Volunteering alongside colleagues.
  • Cross-divisional education, networking, and social events throughout the summer.
  • Guidance and mentorship from your supervisor, peer mentor, senior leaders, and team.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-powered tools from day one, with training and resources to build future-ready skills.
  • Feedback at mid- and end-of-summer as part of a formal review process.

New York, NY and Newport Beach, CA.

Pay

Hourly rate: $43.26. PIMCO follows a total compensation approach, including a base salary and a discretionary bonus based on company, business, team, and individual performance.
