2027 Engineering Leadership Development Program

Genie’s Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP) immerses high-potential recent graduates in three 12-month assignments across engineering functions at Genie. Rotations include Manufacturing Engineer, Design Engineer – Sustaining Engineering, and Design Engineer – New Product Development or Robotics, located at our headquarters in Bothell, WA, manufacturing site in Moses Lake, WA, and R&D Center in Redmond, WA.

The program is open to candidates graduating in 2027 or who have graduated within the last two years. All participants must commit to completing the full three-year program and relocate for each rotation. The first rotations begin on June 21st, 2027.

About the role

• Complete three 12-month rotations through Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering – Sustaining Engineering, and Design Engineering – New Product Development or Robotics.
• Develop a robust understanding of engineering at Genie and contribute to the Technology strategy.
• Receive dedicated coaching and mentoring from industry authorities while working on critically important projects.
• Participate in a 3-week onboarding with the full LDP cohort in Bothell, WA to start the program.

Rotation Details

• Manufacturing Engineering (Moses Lake, WA):
  • Support efficient manufacturing operations by resolving line escalation issues.
  • Optimize equipment layout and processes, analyze production data, and recommend design improvements to reduce cost, waste, and improve product quality.
• Design Engineering – Sustaining Engineering (Moses Lake, WA or Redmond, WA):
  • Lead technical projects in design, development, and testing for current product improvements.
  • Create and improve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, ensure compliance with global standards, and document designs using SolidWorks.
• Technology (Automation, Robotics, AI, Electric Drive) (Redmond, WA and Bothell, WA):
  • Lead the development of new product technology or robotic features for Genie lift products.
  • Own the design, development, testing, and verification of the design or feature.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited engineering bachelor’s degree or higher in robotics engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer engineering, or related fields; or a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
• Demonstrated accomplishments in academics, work experience, or extracurriculars.
• Experience in robotics, mechatronics, programming, electrical engineering, or automation.
• Commitment to three 12-month assignments and full-time placement after the program.
• Ability to work in Redmond, WA for 1–2 years and Moses Lake, WA for 1–2 years, with at least one year at each location.
• Ability to start the program in June 2027.

Nice to haves

• Experience or education in robotics, IoT, electric/hybrid vehicle systems, or other relevant technology.
• Experience with SolidWorks, Draftsight, and NVidia Isaac or similar simulation software.
• Prior engineering internship or related hands-on experience through campus or community involvement.
• Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to clearly express ideas, listen actively, and collaborate effectively.
• Willingness to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and approach challenges proactively.
• Strong attention to detail and a natural inclination to learn.

Pay

The base salary for this position is $85,000 USD. Candidates with more than two years of experience, a technology-related engineering degree (e.g., robotics), or a master’s in engineering may be eligible for additional compensation. The position is also eligible for a 3% performance bonus and salary increases throughout the program.
