2027 Engineering Leadership Development Program

About the role

Gerdau’s G.Future program is a 12-month leadership development initiative designed to shape the next generation of managerial and technical leaders. Participants will engage in on-the-job learning, classroom training, coaching, and mentorship while solving real business challenges. The program includes cross-functional rotations, industry exposure through customer/supplier visits, and collaboration with G.Futures across North America. Travel within the U.S. and Canada is required.

Responsibilities

• Solve large- and small-scale business problems, such as creating mechanical components/assembly drawings and proposing methods to optimize product output and process prioritization.
• Lead the strategic implementation of business goals.
• Participate in a mentorship program with a seasoned Gerdau professional to integrate into the company’s values, culture, and technical operations.
• Gain hands-on experience across Gerdau North America’s levels and departments, including the Petersburg Facility’s Melt Shop and Rolling Mill.
• Develop managerial, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills through structured training and real-world challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Automation, Material Sciences/Metallurgy, or a related field.
• Graduated within the past 3 years or expected to graduate by Summer 2027.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5 (preferred 3.0 or above).
• Preference for candidates with a degree-related internship experience.
• Maximum of 3 years of full-time work experience.
• Well-rounded background with leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular activities.
• High learning agility and willingness to adapt and develop continuously.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
