About the Program
The BOLT (Building Opportunities & Learning Together) Intern Program is Kinder Morgan’s elite summer internship program. Gain hands-on experience in the energy industry while enhancing your professional and interpersonal skills. Participate in meaningful projects that support our vision of delivering energy to improve lives and create a better world.
Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 139 terminals serving storage, distribution, blending, and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils, and other products, with a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 141 million barrels and handling about 56 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.
Responsibilities
- Industrial Hygiene: Develop a chemical approval process incorporating stakeholder input. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and utilize ProcessMap.
- Occupational Safety: Analyze ESO data and identify key trends. Create concise 'one-page' learning tools. Support a summer heat campaign with contractor participation in MBWAs (Management By Walking Around).
- Field Environmental Services (FES): Assist in aligning universal waste disposal practices. Identify best management practices (BMPs) and opportunities for vendor consolidation.
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will be exposed to both operational and EHS aspects of our Terminal business, which includes liquid and bulk commodity transportation.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
- Entering Junior or Senior year of college.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with ProcessMap preferred.
- Able to obtain TWIC upon intern offer and before starting.
Working Conditions
- Office environment and field work within the terminal.
- Travel within the Houston area may be required.
- Additional hours may be required to meet the needs of the region and its customers.
