About the role

The Communication Studies Program in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026-27 academic year. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

Requirements

The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is Master of Arts in Communication Studies or related discipline.

Candidates current in the field, teaching experience, especially in courses closely related to potential assignments, and experience working with diverse populations are preferred qualifications.

Qualifications

To be considered for specific courses, applicants must provide a current CVA complete checklist of courses they believe they are qualified to teach and for which they wish to be considered using the Comm Studies Course Offerings PDF. Qualifications for each course on the checklist should be provided using the CMST Course Qualifications template.

  • Out of State Employment: All work must be performed within the State of California.
  • Background Check and Disclosures: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
