2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Geology
About the role
The Department of Geology at Sacramento State seeks qualified candidates for a part-time lecturer pool to teach a variety of geology courses including Hydrogeology, Geochemistry, Surficial Processes, Paleontology, and Petrology, as well as general education courses in physical geology, natural disasters, oceanography, and dinosaurs.
Responsibilities
- Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours
- Other duties as assigned based on departmental needs
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Geology or related Geoscience field of study
- Previous experience teaching Geology at the post-secondary level preferred

Ranks and salaries are based on professional experience and educational background. Initial rank and salary ranges are provided:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 ‐ $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 ‐ $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 ‐ $15,211
Schedule
Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Often appointments are made just prior to the start of the semester.
