2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Geography
Sacramento State’s Department of Geography seeks part-time lecturers to teach courses in the Geography B.A. program, general-education courses, and teacher-preparation courses. Assignments are made each semester by the Department Chair based on enrollment, budget, and instructional need.
Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom instruction in assigned courses
- Prepare course materials and syllabi
- Grade student work and submit final grades
- Hold regular office hours for student consultation
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Geography or a closely related field (required)
- Ph.D. in Geography or a related field (preferred)
- Previous college-level teaching experience with evidence of teaching effectiveness (preferred)
Pay
Lecturer salaries are based on rank, professional experience, and educational background. As of July 2024, the semester salary ranges (for 15 weighted teaching units) are:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211
Pay is pro-rated by the number of units assigned. Example: a Lecturer A teaching 3 units at the minimum rate receives $1,101.40 per paycheck for six checks, totaling $6,608.40 for the semester.
