2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)

Cal State LA’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in the College of Engineering, Computer Science & Technology is forming a pool of part-time faculty lecturers for the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions are filled each semester based on enrollment, budget, and instructional needs. Initial appointments are typically for one semester and may be renewed depending on department needs, funding, and performance. Appointments are often made just prior to the start of the semester, so availability on short notice may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or related discipline) and substantial teaching experience for lower-division courses.
• Master’s degree in electrical engineering (or related discipline) for upper-division undergraduate courses.
• Doctoral degree, or master’s degree in electrical engineering (or related discipline) and substantial teaching experience for graduate courses.
• Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
• Relevant work experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours.
• Additional duties as assigned by the department.
• Course assignments (including dates, time, and modality) determined by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.
• Courses may include lower-division requirements in electrical and computer engineering, upper-division, and graduate-level courses in biomedical engineering, communications, computers, control, power, and electronics.

Pay

Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The following full-time equivalent salary ranges are effective as of July 1, 2024:

• Lecturer A/2: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
• Lecturer B/3: $6,221 - $13,224 per month
• Lecturer C/4: $6,825 - $14,523 per month
• Lecturer D/5: $8,593 - $15,211 per month

The anticipated monthly hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range. Most new faculty lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
