About the role

The Electrical/Electronic and Computer Engineering Department in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026-27 academic year. Full-time work may be available depending on available workload and candidate background. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

Responsibilities

  • Teach electrical and computer engineering undergraduate courses and laboratories.
  • Teach relevant upper division, core courses and/or mentor student projects.
  • Support undergraduate students in their laboratory efforts through teaching relevant topics including laboratory safety protocols, managing the lab, and providing guidance in project construction, characterization, debugging, and documentation of results.
  • Assess student performance, which may include their attainment of student learning outcomes.

Requirements

  • A Master of Science or higher degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or in a related area from an accredited university by the time of employment.
  • An alternative path: a Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electrical/Electronic, or Computer Engineering or in a related field from an accredited university and three years of practice in a relevant field of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates with one or more years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, particularly in lower division courses and in laboratory and capstone courses that emphasize engineering design.

  • A strong commitment to teaching with a proven record of or the potential for developing innovative pedagogical approaches to courses, labs, and projects.
  • A willingness to participate as a team member to assess student outcomes and to adapt to changes in the curriculum.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Pay

  • Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month.
  • Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,221 – $13,224 per month.
  • Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,825 – $14,523 per month.
  • Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $8,593 – $15,211 per month.

Schedule

  • Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.

  • Minimum Qualifications: The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment in the department is a Master of Science or higher degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or in a related area from an accredited university by the time of employment. OR a Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electrical/Electronic, or Computer Engineering or in a related field from an accredited university and three years of practice in a relevant field of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Candidates in all areas of Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering are encouraged to apply. Applicants with one or more years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, particularly in lower division courses and in laboratory and capstone courses that emphasize engineering design are also preferred.
