About the Role

To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. The coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. The role involves working with students interested in sports, providing necessary practice support and advice for the team to be successful during the sports season.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and supervise a total sports program for C-Team Volleyball.
  • Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport.
  • Examine new theories and procedures pertinent to coaching and apply them as appropriate.
  • Serve as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
  • Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
  • Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
  • Work evenings and weekends as required for practices, games, and events.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
  • Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
  • Previous successful coaching experience in volleyball (preferably at the high school level or higher).
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of volleyball.

Qualifications

  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the development of student athletes both on and off the court.

Pay

$5,300.00 for the fall sport season.

Schedule

Fall sport season. On-site attendance is mandatory, including evenings and weekends for practices, games, and events.

Reports To

The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
