Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (details)
- Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
- Previous successful coaching experience in volleyball
- Substantial knowledge of volleyball technical aspects and ability to stay current with new theories and procedures
Responsibilities
- Organize and supervise a total volleyball program
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
- Demonstrate and instruct behaviors that foster socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment
- Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
- Work with student athletes, providing practice support and advice for team success during the sports season
- Teach and enforce volleyball rules and regulations
- Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principals
About the Role
The head volleyball coach reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in collaboration with the high school principals. The role involves evening and weekend work during the season.
The job goal is to develop student athletes both athletically and personally, ensuring a successful and positive experience in competitive volleyball.
