Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (how to apply)
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
- Previous successful coaching experience in volleyball
- Substantial knowledge of volleyball technical aspects and ability to stay current with new theories and procedures
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
Responsibilities
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
- Demonstrate and promote behaviors that lead to character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment
- Upgrade coaching knowledge and skills through clinics, observations, and consultation
- Provide practice support and advice to ensure team success during the sports season
- Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
- Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principal
- Serve as a positive role model for student athletes through instructions and actions
Work Environment
- On-site attendance is mandatory
- Evening and weekend work required
Reports to: Athletic Director, with evaluation in conjunction with high school principals
