About the role

The Special Education Generalist Self-Contained position at Garside, Frank JHS is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting. The role requires a deep understanding of special education principles and practices, as well as strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs and goals.
• Collaborate with other educators, parents, and related service providers to support student learning and development.
• Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students in a self-contained classroom.
• Evaluate student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
• A valid teaching license in Special Education.
• At least two years of successful teaching experience in a special education setting.
• Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders, emotional disturbances, or intellectual disabilities.

• Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.
