About the role

This position is for a Special Education Generalist in a self-contained setting at W. M. Scherkenbach Elementary School in Las Vegas, Nevada. The role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities within a self-contained classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
• Provide direct instruction in academic, behavioral, and functional life skills
• Adapt general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with diverse learning needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and objectives
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment
• Implement behavior intervention plans and positive behavioral supports
• Administer and interpret educational assessments to determine student needs and progress
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other team meetings
• Supervise and direct the work of educational assistants assigned to the classroom

Requirements

• Valid Nevada teaching license with Special Education endorsement
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Successful completion of a teacher preparation program
• Ability to obtain or hold appropriate endorsements for the assigned disability categories
• Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
• Experience working with students with significant cognitive, physical, or behavioral needs

Pay

Salary is based on the CCSD teacher salary schedule, determined by education level and years of experience.
