About the role
This is a full-time special-education teaching position in a self-contained classroom setting.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Deliver specialized instruction in core academic areas (reading, writing, math, science, social studies) tailored to students’ unique learning needs.
- Adapt and modify general-education curriculum using evidence-based strategies and assistive technologies.
- Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations; adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with general-education teachers, related-service providers, paraprofessionals, and families to support student success.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and IEP compliance.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive-behavior interventions and supports (PBIS).
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and school-wide initiatives.
Requirements
- Valid Nevada Department of Education license with a Special Education (Generalist) endorsement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field.
- Demonstrated experience working with students with diverse disabilities in a self-contained or inclusion setting.
- Knowledge of Nevada Academic Content Standards and Common Core State Standards.
- Familiarity with assistive technology, augmentative communication devices, and adaptive equipment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
