2026 - 2027 School Year - Elementary School Counselor

About the role

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive counseling services to students in grades K-8, focusing on academic, social, emotional, and personal development. They will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support student success.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address students' academic, social, and emotional needs.
• Develop and implement programs to promote positive behavior and mental health awareness.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Assist in the referral process for students who may need additional support beyond the school setting.
• Maintain accurate records and reports as required by state and federal regulations.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in counseling or a related field.
• A master's degree in counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Current certification as a School Counselor in Tennessee.
• Experience working with elementary school-aged children.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of child development and psychology.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Schedule

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with a typical workday of 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
