About the Role

Special Education Generalist – Self-Contained classroom setting at Francis H. Cortney Junior High School.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom environment.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, administrators, and support staff.
• Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
• Manage classroom behavior and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and paraprofessionals to support student success.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.

Requirements

• Valid Nevada Department of Education license with appropriate special education endorsement (Generalist, Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, or equivalent).
• Experience working with students with disabilities in a self-contained or resource room setting preferred.
• Knowledge of IEP processes, special education laws, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and use assistive technology as needed.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
