About the role

This is a middle school teaching position within the Special Education department, specifically for a Generalist Self-Contained classroom. The role involves providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct special education instruction to students in a self-contained setting
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success
• Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet individual student needs
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and objectives
• Maintain accurate student records and comply with all special education regulations and procedures

Requirements

• Valid teaching license with Special Education endorsement appropriate for middle school level
• Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and implementation
• Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
• Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Effective classroom management techniques appropriate for special education settings
