Program: Autism (Primary - Grades K through 2)

About the role

Responsible for providing instruction to students with autism spectrum disorder in a self-contained classroom setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on student needs and state standards.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and related service providers to support student learning.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed to meet academic and social/emotional goals.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching strategies and knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Valid Colorado teaching license with endorsement in Special Education.
• At least two years of successful teaching experience in a special education setting.
• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and effective strategies for supporting students with these conditions.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
• Ability to manage a self-contained classroom environment effectively.
• Passion for working with children with special needs.

Skills

• Proficiency in using assistive technology to support student learning.
• Experience with data collection and analysis to inform instructional decisions.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
