About the role
The Special Education Generalist Self-Contained position at THE TRANSFORMATION NETWORK is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting. The role requires a deep understanding of special education principles and practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs and abilities.
- Collaborate with other educators, parents, and related service providers to support student learning and development.
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A valid teaching license in Special Education.
- At least two years of full-time teaching experience in a special education setting.
- Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder, emotional disturbances, or other significant disabilities.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.
Skills
- Proficiency in using assistive technology to support student learning.
- Experience with data-driven decision making and goal-setting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
