About the role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc., so that they may always look and feel their best. The DSP may be asked to assist them to their medical appointments, banking, assist them to become active members of their community, attend outings, administer medications, follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and to follow medical guidelines that are in place.

Responsibilities

• Assist with household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, and teeth brushing
• Support individuals to attend medical appointments, banking, and community outings
• Administer medications as directed
• Follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and goals
• Follow established medical guidelines
• Maintain certifications and comply with Agency policies and DDS regulations
• Safely evacuate individuals from the home in the event of an emergency

Requirements

• 21+ with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• High School Diploma or GED
• Fluent English (speak, read, and write)
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double-shifts

• Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history)

Pay

$17.50–$19 per hour

Schedule

• Full-time: 28 hours
• Sun 9 a–11 p, Sat 9 a–11 p

Training

• Paid New Employee Orientation
• Paid CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP)
• Program- and person-specific training at the individual’s home
