Zipline Operator

About the role

The Zip Rider Course Operator reports to the Excursions Supervisor and works during the seasonal period from April to September in Hoonah, Alaska. The role is seasonal and pays $18.00 per hour, with the possibility of a bonus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Securely strap guests into harness seats at the start of the ride and unstrap them at the end.
• Use a two-check process at the top tower to ensure guest safety.
• Retrieve and return harnesses between towers.
• Provide guests with information about Icy Strait Point's offerings, including tours, food, and amenities.
• Maintain a current First Aid/CPR certification.
• Participate in all required training and safety meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture.
• Knowledge of the local area (marine life, plants, animals, birds).
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead groups of both children and adults.
• Strong commitment to safety.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and walk 5+ miles daily.
• Willingness to work in a remote, rural community.
• Comfortable with heights and working in a remote setting.
• Age 18 for the top tower and 16 for the bottom tower.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Able to lift 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and walk 5+ miles daily.
• Able to lift arms and push/pull a 10-foot pool to engage the return system.
• Able to lift arms to grab harnesses and pull harness retrieval lines.
• Comfortable living in a remote, rural community.
• Willing to travel by small plane or ferry to and from a remote setting.
• Capable of working long days, including 10+ hour shifts.
• Comfortable with heights.
