About the role

The Youth Services Behavioral Specialist (S) plays a crucial role in implementing individual and group treatment plans to affect behavioral changes required for youthful offender rehabilitation. They provide security, control, and safeguard juveniles from each other, and work directly with court-ordered youth at Youth Development Centers or Juvenile Detention Centers.

Responsibilities

• Implement individual and group treatment plans to promote behavioral changes in youthful offenders.
• Provide security and control in custody environments.
• Safeguard juveniles from each other and ensure their well-being.
• Work closely with court-ordered youth, focusing on rehabilitation and behavior modification.
• Engage in direct care activities, including weekend and holiday shifts as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution, or
• Four years of directly related human services experience, or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications

• Must be physically capable of applying proper methods and procedures to restrain juveniles and defend self after proper training by the department.
• Must pass a Criminal Background Check, Drug Screening, Psychological Test, Sexual Risk Screening, and Physical Fitness Test.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 20 years old.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Pay

Salary is based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position. New hires may qualify for a sign-on bonus of $3,000.00 and the Employee Referral Bonus program. Step pay plan applies, with salaries increasing annually based on experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with variable work hours depending on the facility. Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
