About the role
The Wyoming Girls’ School (WGS) in Sheridan is a secure therapeutic and educational facility providing treatment and support services for court-ordered delinquent girls ages 12–21. WGS seeks an entry-level Youth Services position on the overnight shift (10:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.), suitable for those interested in human services, criminal justice, psychology, social work, behavioral health, education, or related fields.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safety and security by utilizing cameras and physical visual checks to monitor students while they sleep, conducting routine checks, and responding promptly to emergencies or crises.
- Support students by assisting with morning preparations, hygiene, urinalysis, physical training, educational groups, and school activities.
- Document unusual events and complete building and perimeter checks on a frequent basis.
- Contribute to a stable and supportive living environment through ongoing monitoring and support.
Qualifications
- PREFERENCES: High school diploma, plus one year of work experience with the public or youth.
- KNOWLEDGE: Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal abilities, knowledge of physical and non-physical intervention skills in crisis situations, and skills in observation, basic report writing, and verbal/non-verbal communication.
- EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- EXPERIENCE: One to three years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services).
