Youth Recreation Program Staff (ages 14 to 17)
About the role
The purpose of this position is to provide scorekeeping, officiate, and perform other duties as needed to operate specific recreation programs emphasizing participation, instruction, and skill development in women's, men's, youth, and children's sports and family recreation.
Responsibilities
- Instruct, umpire, officiate, and/or keep score for games
- Educate youth and parents about the rules
- Enforce rules and policy
- Ensure safety and security of recreation participants and facilities
- Answer inquiries and provide information to the public
Requirements
- Must be 14 years of age before beginning employment
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of sport(s) to be officiated
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to work well with others
Qualifications
Necessary job and skills training will be made available if hired. Following a conditional offer of employment, employees must successfully complete a pre-employment drug test and criminal history check. Employees required to drive a motor vehicle as an essential job duty will be required to successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check following a conditional offer of employment.
Pay
The wage range for this position is $9.00 - $10.50 per hour, depending upon job level and assignment.
Schedule
This is a temporary position, and the ability to work a flexible schedule is required.
