Youth Program Counselor

About the Role

The Youth Program Counselor guides and ensures the safety of children as they engage in camp activities, assists with activity planning, and receives special training to fully support kids' needs during their stay at the camp. Works with children, co-workers, and other staff to provide a safe and beneficial summer day camp experience in a Christian environment, helping youth learn values that will last a lifetime.

Responsibilities

• Provide sports, arts, education, and mentoring programs for youth ages 5 to 16.
• Help with the day-to-day activities of the Fusion Program, including:
  • Recreation activities
  • Tutoring and supervising the homework room
  • Encouraging teens to attend youth group events
• Be aware of and follow all safety precautions and procedures.
• Help with the maintenance of all areas used by the program.
• Assist with the preparation and distribution of daily snacks.
• Assist the director in whatever manner needed.
• Keep records in compliance with standards to assure program evaluation and certification requirements.
• Keep the Family and Youth Ministries Coordinator informed on all critical issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• 1+ year of experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to collaborate on social issues within kids, families, and communities.
• Complete Safe From Harm training and keep certification current as needed.

Skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, TEAMS, and SharePoint.
• Willingness to learn new software as needed.
