About the role

The Healthy Families division is hiring for Youth Program Aides and Leaders for the City of Hampton's School Aged Program. Positions are available at various Before & After School Program sites for Hampton City Schools.

Responsibilities

  • Function in a variety of recreational, day care, or camp settings with school-aged children.
  • Support the educational and developmental needs of children.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to provide a comprehensive program for children.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or successful completion of a GED.
  • Age 18 or older for Youth Program Aides.
  • Age 21 or older for Youth Program Leaders.
  • Experience working with school-aged children in a recreational, day care, or camp setting.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Good physical condition to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Availability to work before school between 6:15am-8:45am, after school between 1:30-6:30pm, or both.
  • Ability to work part-time up to 25 hours per week.
  • Pass a background check related to the position.
  • Comply with the City's substance abuse policy.

  • Current or retired teachers and educators.
  • Military spouses and veterans.
  • College students or high school seniors pursuing a career in childcare or education.
  • Individuals with a passion for early childhood education.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of child development and safety standards.
  • Basic computer skills for program management.

Pay

Schedule

Flexible hours that fit around your schedule, operating on school days between the hours of 6:15am and 8:45am for the Before School Program and 1:30-6:30pm for the After School Program.
