Youth Mentor - Lava Heights Academy

Lava Heights Academy is a residential treatment program that provides a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for vulnerable young women who are referred from juvenile courts and social service agencies both locally and across the country. The youth enter the program with a history of abuse, neglect, trauma, substance abuse, mental illness and violence. They graduate from Lava Heights Academy as educated young women who have overcome challenges and have demonstrated making healthy choices for themselves and for their future.

Pay

• $20.00 per hour depending on experience and education
• $1,000 Bonus after successful completion of Essential Skills Training (within the first 90 days)
• $500 Sign-On Bonus paid at 6 months of employment

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and around-the-clock supervision for the youth in our program
• Create a supportive atmosphere that meets the needs of the students
• Monitor and document student behaviors and activities
• Participate and assist with educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities
• Collaborate with other professional staff to establish and/or meet the goals of each student’s treatment plan

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• At least 21 years old
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical, and TB screening

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts: 7:00 am to 8:00 pm or 8:00 am to 9:00 pm (1-hour break)
• Long week: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
• Short week: Wednesday, Thursday
