Youth Behavioral Paraprofessional I/II - Health and Human Services (0726)

Typical Duties

  • Works closely with Clinical Director in the day-to-day operations of Youth Center
  • Adheres to workplace procedures as well as health and safety protocols
  • Completes all training associated with the position
  • Operates the front desk and monitors the checking in procedures of youth
  • Processes and inputs confidential and sensitive information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Learns and further develops skills related to working with youth in a youth center
  • Engages with the youth and their families and works to create trust between youth, family, and Youth Center
  • Plans and coordinates social activities for youth in center
  • Maintains membership access system
  • Maintains client records in compliance with Coconino County Health and Human Services, Arizona Department of Health Services, Regional Behavioral Health Authority/health plans, and Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System
  • Aids youth and their families in navigating, providing referrals to community partners and accessing services within the community
  • Utilizes person-first language in all interactions and demonstrates excellence in compassionate customer service
  • Buils relationships with collaborative partners to support and strengthen referrals and linkages to care
  • Completes documentation in the Electronic Health Record for activities with enrolled individuals

Minimum Qualifications

  • YOUTH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PARAPROFESSIONAL I: High School diploma or high school equivalency and two years working with youth; OR, any equivalent combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • YOUTH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PARAPROFESSIONAL II: High School diploma or high school equivalency, two years working with youth and one year working in behavioral health; OR, any equivalent combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with youth in behavioral health, mental health, social services, education, residential care, or juvenile justice settings.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, positive behavior supports, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques.
  • Experience supporting youth with behavioral, emotional, or developmental challenges.
