About the Role

Assist with prepress or shipping department job duties for Flexible Packaging, Pressure Sensitive, or Folding Carton business units. This position involves mentored on-the-job training, with students assisting in the production of Pressure Sensitive Labels, Folding Cartons, or Flexible Packaging. Positions may include Makeready Technician, Ink Technician, or Plate Mounter.

Pay

$18.00/hour

Schedule

20-30 hours per week during the 2026/2027 school year, flexible around the student’s school schedule.

Responsibilities

• Plate Mounter: Accurately mount plates onto cylinders, wash plates, and fill them according to job numbers.
• Ink Technician: Mix inks to match set color standards, deliver ink to press, adjust colors on press, and assist press operators.
• Makeready Technician: Ensure proper equipment and materials are at the press, assist with press setup, operation, and cleanup, and maintain the overall appearance of the production area.
• Follow all safety procedures and adhere to Safe Quality Foods requirements.
• Package, label, and stage printed products to meet customer needs.
• Assist in various departments as workflow directs.
• Report prepress issues to the Production Prepress Manager.
• May perform duties of Press Operator Assistant and basic job setups.
• Complete necessary paperwork and computer entries for jobs.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in High School, Junior or Senior status required.
• Education equivalent to two (2) years of high school.
• Ability to effectively utilize English (writing, speaking, reading).
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to concentrate, follow instructions, and meet deadlines.
• Physical abilities: stand/walk for 90% of work time, lift up to 100 pounds, use hands and feet for machine operation, and distinguish colors.

Working Conditions

• Work near moving mechanical parts.
• Exposure to vibrations, noise, and chemical odors.
