About the role
The Youth Apprentice – Laboratory will assist laboratory care team members as directed under the supervision of healthcare professionals. Duties may include customer service, phlebotomy, accessioning, and pre-analytic specimen preparation.
Responsibilities
- Aid in providing customer service to patients and staff.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures under supervision.
- Accomplish accessioning tasks as directed.
- Prepare pre-analytic specimens as needed.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in High School as a Junior or Senior OR have obtained an HS Diploma.
- Must be accepted into the Trident Technical College Youth Apprenticeship Program.
- Continued participation in the Trident Technical College Youth Apprenticeship Program is required to meet minimum qualifications for this position.
- Completion of the Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate program through Trident Technical College Apprenticeship Program is necessary to function as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant.
- Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, etc.).
