About the role
The Youth Activities Counselor is responsible for all activities related to youth activities at the club including but not limited to assisting in creating, implementing, and overseeing family-friendly events and youth programs, set-up, cleaning up, and supervising younger members in a safe and friendly way.
Responsibilities
- Greet members and guests in a professional and friendly manner.
- Respond to member questions by providing correct information and answering the telephone in professional manner.
- Aid with set-up, decorations, and safety checks before events.
- Host and engage children and families in activities, including pool activities, events, camps, and holiday events.
- Aid parents in signing their children in and out and checking identification.
- Be knowledgeable of and comply, at all times, with the Club’s standards, policies, and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Ensure knowledge of all children’s allergies and special needs.
- Supervise children and use good judgement when in our care. Adhere to all rules regarding younger members.
- Aid with handling kids’ meals.
- Communicate effectively and inform immediate supervisors of any unforeseen circumstances and react appropriately.
- Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and secure locking of the children’s playroom.
- Perform other duties as assigned by managers.
- Must be available Friday and Saturday nights.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Must possess CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of Outlook, internet applications, and use of office equipment.
- Must have knowledge of age-appropriate activities and enjoy working with all age groups.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests, clients, and employees.
- Must possess excellent communication skills including strong verbal, written, and positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests, and staff of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels.
- Excellent team player with ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
Skills
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
- Requires the ability to safely lift items up to 30 pounds.
- Continuous walking and standing.
- Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, and repetitive actions.
- Be physically able to reach, bend, and stoop.
- Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Effective in listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by members, guests, and team members.
