Description

The Youth Activities Camp Counselors are responsible for planning, leading, and implementing core and non-core programs and experiences for children in a small group setting. As a YAC, you will be asked to assist in activity set-up and clean-up duties at the conclusion of each activity. Counselors are also responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group. The counselor will provide high quality indoor/outdoor educational and recreational experiences for participants.

Essential Functions

  • Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, swimming, tennis, golf, Family Night, etc.
  • Work as a team with other counselors, sharing information and duties
  • Energetic and have a positive attitude
  • Willing to participate in activities such as games, skits, etc. with participants
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues
  • Ensure that the camp space is kept clean, organized, and free of litter
  • Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Camp Leadership
  • Aid in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas
  • This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience with childcare, teaching or camp counseling preferred.
  • Experience working with youth in a mentoring situation.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Proven track record of superior organization and multi-tasking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to participate in potentially strenuous physical activity.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict mediation.
  • Ability to work with members, children, and staff effectively.
  • Supervisory/Organizational skills.
  • Time Management.
  • Always support the rules of the program (the number one priority is to ensure the safety of our participants).
  • Have flexibility/adaptability (plans constantly change based on participants demands).
  • Understand that you are a role-model to the participants attending the programs/activities and therefore must follow all participants rules.

Salary Description

$16.00 per Hour
