About the role
The Yard Foreman will oversee and manage yard inventory and employees and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and quantity standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Trains and manages yard employees on the assigned shift
- Oversees the daily workflow and assignments of the shift
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
Responsibilities
- Ensure yard is secure, safe and manned at all times during open hours (i.e., no broken fences, gate locked at closing)
- Check in/receive merchandise in the yard and ensure that it matches with the manifest
- Rotate stock in the yard and ensure that the inventory is put away where it belongs; stocked daily
- Ensure lumber stacks are leveled out daily
- Keep the yard organized for inventory purposes (i.e., cycle counting and ordering)
- Ensure all sheds are cleaned out daily to prevent merchandise from being damaged
- Maintain vehicles and ensure maintenance is kept up with
- Ensure drivers complete the Driver’s Daily Checklist and daily mileage log
- Ensure all customers are waited on in a courteous manner and orders are loaded properly
- Assist manager in performance evaluations of yard personnel
- Assist buyer or cycle counter in counts of the yard
- Prepare work schedules to ensure efficient operations
- Maintain heavy equipment and complete recordkeeping for maintenance of equipment
- Ensure employees comply with applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ensure yard staff obtain proper forklift certification
- Schedule deliveries with customers
- Comply with Hacienda uniform policy
- Complete any necessary training
- Perform other related duties as assigned

- Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn yard processes and heavy machinery

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior exceptional work experience with the company preferred
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather
- Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, reach, bend, push, pull
- Must be able to regularly lift 100 pounds at a time
- Safely operate heavy equipment
