About the Role

Supervises, assigns, coordinates, and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel based on their skill, experience, and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity, and assists in the development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans.

Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job, including adherence to drawings and procedures. Oversees manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff and monitors job and budget performance across all shifts.

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to new Foreman hires. Current Newport News Shipbuilding employees are eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assign work to semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel.
  • Train and evaluate employees to improve work quality and productivity.
  • Develop and implement training procedures.
  • Translate broad strategies into actionable plans and ensure team readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with technical job requirements, including adherence to drawings and procedures.
  • Oversee manufacturing, installation, testing, and process operations with financial impact.
  • Monitor job and budget performance for all shifts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR
  • Apprentice Certification OR
  • High School diploma and 4 years of combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, or military experience OR
  • Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical field and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade, and/or military experience.

Skills

  • Prior fitter and fabrication experience (preferred).

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this role is $92,000.00 to $117,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
