About the role
The Enterprise Director of Quality at WVU Health System plays a pivotal role in developing and executing a vision for world-class quality and safety. This leadership position is responsible for planning and overseeing the implementation of key clinical quality and safety initiatives, collaborating with leadership teams, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Vision And Strategy Development
- Plan and oversee the implementation of key clinical quality and safety initiatives defined by Executive Leadership.
- Provide leadership development and training to quality leaders at other hospitals within the system.
- Aid in strategic planning to align quality and safety goals with organizational objectives.
- Develop a system-wide PI model to accelerate and sustain results.
- Collaborate with nursing leaders and other key stakeholders to establish short-term and long-term goals for key clinical outcomes.
- Further develop the structure and process for system-wide quality and safety initiatives.
- Provide onsite support to system hospitals during the implementation or standardization of processes.
- Ensure consistent reporting and oversight for the system's quality and safety strategic plan.
- Establish a structure and process to share key learnings across the organization.
- Actively lead efforts to foster a culture of safety throughout WVU Health System.
- Assist with board education, quality retreats, team building, and related initiatives.
- Provide ongoing direction and oversight to Vizient reporting and benchmarking activities.
- Collaborate closely with Risk Management to identify and prioritize top system risks related to quality and safety.
- Analyze data related to clinical quality and safety outcomes.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics and dashboards to track progress.
- Stay current with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
- Ensure that the organization remains compliant with all relevant requirements.
- Lead or facilitate root cause analysis investigations for significant quality and safety incidents.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions based on findings.
- Gather and analyze patient feedback to identify areas for improvement in patient care and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with patient advocacy teams to address concerns.
- Foster collaborative relationships with clinical departments, quality improvement teams, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate efforts to achieve quality and safety goals.
- Manage budget allocations for quality and safety initiatives, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning among quality leaders and staff.
- Communicate regularly with Executive Leadership and the Board on quality and safety performance.
- Prepare and present reports highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Education, Certification, and/or Licensure: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.
- Experience: Five (5) years of relevant experience in healthcare quality and safety management.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education, Certification, and/or Licensure: Master's degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field.
- Experience: Seven or more years of progressive experience in healthcare quality and safety management.
- Experience in strategic planning and leadership development.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
