WSS Dispatch Coordinator

About the role

Wilhelmsen Ships Service is seeking a Dispatch Coordinator in our Pasadena office. This role ensures that all goods presented by the Warehouse Department are delivered by the drivers at the correct address within the time limits set, in appropriate condition, and together with the correct documents and appropriate cost.

To be successful in this position, you will need to be flexible, a team player, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Update all ETAs through consistent monitoring with agents
• Schedule drivers
• Monitor the efficiency of the dispatch operations and driver utilization
• Ensure that transport is done in an efficient and cost-effective way in line with demand
• Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations
• Responsible for correct document flow, reporting, and tracking
• Report and take action to ensure professional and timely deliveries
• Keep delivery trucks maintained to appropriate standards, rules, and regulations, including placards, certificates, etc.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate on all levels
• Ability to work in a team and on own initiatives
• Good command of written and spoken English
• Good knowledge of and experience within worldwide transportation methods and requirements
• Good knowledge of Dangerous Goods transportation regulations in all transport modes
• In-depth familiarity and knowledge of transportation rules and regulations
• Ability to work outside normal business working hours

Qualifications

• Dangerous Good Certification (preferred)
• Maritime experience (preferred)
• Systematic, organized, and accurate (preferred)
• Good knowledge of products carried (preferred)

Pay

Compensation starting at $25.00 hourly, depending on experience.
