About the role

Our workers’ compensation legal assistants play a vital role in supporting our clients and team, serving as a trusted point of contact, providing exceptional service using legal knowledge, and showing care and respect to clients. We are seeking a client-focused and detail-oriented legal assistant to support our workers’ compensation attorneys. The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong communication skills, and manages multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative legal environment. The candidate must be reliable, consistent, and proactive in handling tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the point of contact, maintaining professional communication with clients, insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, nurse case managers, and medical providers throughout the case process.
  • Support attorneys in case development, facilitating documentation, and being responsive to advance cases through the workers’ compensation system.
  • Partner with team members to align case strategies, share insights, and ensure consistent, client-centered results.
  • Manage an active caseload and maintain accurate, organized case files using legal case management software (e.g., Litify).
  • Prepare, complete, and file initial documentation for new cases.
  • Draft legal correspondence, pleadings, motions, and other case-related documents.
  • Compose and coordinate discovery requests, responses, and related documentation.
  • Collect, review, organize, and summarize medical records and other supporting evidence.
  • Prepare case files and supporting materials for mediations, hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Schedule mediations, conferences, client meetings, and other case-related appointments.
  • Monitor deadlines including clients’ medical appointments and ensure compliance with Industrial Commission rules, filing requirements, and internal procedures.

Requirements

  • Legal Assistant/Paralegal certification or Associates/Bachelor’s degree.
  • One to three years of experience in a law firm or legal environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and case management software.
  • Strong time management, critical thinking, problem-solving, professionalism, and empathy.
