Responsibilities
- Defend employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in disputed workers' compensation claims before the MN Department of Labor & Industry and the Office of Administrative Hearings
- Defend employment-related claims in state and federal court, including wrongful discharge and discrimination matters
- Defend general civil litigation, including personal injury cases
- Handle all phases of litigation — pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trial
- Analyze and summarize heavy, complex medical records in WC and personal injury matters
- Work with IME and vocational experts to develop and present expert testimony
- Draft briefs and legal memoranda for motion, trial, and appellate practice
- Prepare clear, timely reporting to clients, general counsel, risk managers, and claims adjusters
- Advocate at mediation and arbitration to secure favorable settlements
Qualifications
- Minnesota Bar admission
- 1+ year of Workers' compensation litigation experience
- Experience before the Court of Administrative Hearings, the WC Court of Appeals, and state/federal courts a plus
Compensation & benefits
- Base salary range: $100,000 – $150,000 per year
- Monthly source bonus plus annual discretionary bonus
