About the role
Manage all aspects of assigned workers' compensation claims, including investigation of reported injury/illness and causal relationship to work, nature and extent of disability, and resolution plan in accordance with the applicable state and federal statutes according to the department best practices.
Responsibilities
- Educate employees with work-related injuries/illnesses on the benefits available under state and federal statutes
- Estimate reserves required to satisfy the liability incurred as a result of a workplace injury/illness
- Manage approved vendor services to maximize return on investment
- Travel between CT and RI Workers' Compensation offices as necessary
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have or be able to obtain Rhode Island claim adjusting license as mandated by state regulations within 30 days of hire
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Medical insurance, risk management or legal office
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in HR or Finance (preferred)
- Previous experience in project management or supervisory capacity (preferred)
- Currently holds Rhode Island claim adjusting license as mandated by state regulations (preferred)
Skills
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel & Word)
- Strong work ethic to manage large caseload along with pleasant demeanor in dealing with injured workers, medical providers, attorneys, and other third parties
- Critical thinking and situational analysis skills for strong and supported decision making
