Workers' Compensation Analyst

About the role

Manage all aspects of assigned workers' compensation claims, including investigation of reported injury/illness and causal relationship to work, nature and extent of disability, and resolution plan in accordance with the applicable state and federal statutes according to the department best practices.

Responsibilities

• Educate employees with work-related injuries/illnesses on the benefits available under state and federal statutes
• Estimate reserves required to satisfy the liability incurred as a result of a workplace injury/illness
• Manage approved vendor services to maximize return on investment
• Travel between CT and RI Workers' Compensation offices as necessary

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Must have or be able to obtain Rhode Island claim adjusting license as mandated by state regulations within 30 days of hire
• Minimum of 1 year experience in Medical insurance, risk management or legal office

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in HR or Finance (preferred)
• Previous experience in project management or supervisory capacity (preferred)
• Currently holds Rhode Island claim adjusting license as mandated by state regulations (preferred)

Skills

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel & Word)
• Strong work ethic to manage large caseload along with pleasant demeanor in dealing with injured workers, medical providers, attorneys, and other third parties
• Critical thinking and situational analysis skills for strong and supported decision making
