Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve Middle-Market to Large Commercial client workers' compensation claims, communicating regularly with parties such as the insurance adjuster, client, defense attorney, and outside consultant.
  • Gather facts, review coverage, and analyze estimates to resolve coverage disputes favorably for clients.
  • Evaluate claims for reserve or settlement purposes and prepare stewardship reports for the client, Client Advisor, and Account Executive.
  • Provide recommendations or guidance to Client Advisors, Account Managers, and other Centers of Influence on claims for clients generating less than $10,000 in annual commercial revenue.
  • Back-up other Claim Consultants as needed, especially those managing Workers' Compensation claims for Middle Market and Large Commercial clients.
  • Strategically manage existing open WC claims, documenting all activity in Epic, maintaining contact with relevant parties, and providing regular updates.
  • Assist Account Executives and Client Advisors in resolving coverage questions, identifying trends, and developing risk management techniques to reduce future insurance costs.
  • Communicate courteously and professionally with all parties involved in claims and coverage matters, responding promptly to inquiries and maintaining good relationships.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with adjusters, clients, and others involved in claims, and maintain records of claim statuses.
  • Enter and maintain data in Epic, including email, phone contacts, and client stewardship reports.
  • Contact clients as needed, receive and distribute P&C claims-related mail, and inform relevant parties of any coverage concerns.
  • Review and monitor open WC claims on assigned clients, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining accurate records.
  • Prepare and submit stewardship reports to the Marketing team, Client Advisor, or Account Executive as requested.
  • Provide status reports on open WC claims for assigned clients as requested by the Client Advisor, Account Executive, or client.
  • Support the Agency’s mission and vision by adhering to policies, procedures, and workflow processes.
  • Complete continuing education requirements to maintain P&C licenses and other designations.
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in Insurance, P&C
  • 3 years in brokerage preferred, not required
  • 3 years or more of claims management experience
  • Active P&C license, or ability to successfully complete training and pass licensing test within 12 months of hire
  • High-school diploma, or equivalent (college degree, a plus)
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • 3 years or more customer-oriented service experience
  • Good judgment/decision-making ability
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Prioritization skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Attention to detail
  • Intermediate or above computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Agency Management software)
  • Intermediate skills or above navigating the internet

Pay

The base compensation range for this position is $115,000 - $162,000. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity. Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
