Workday HCM Specialist - Manufacturing

About the role
Our client is looking for a skilled Workday HCM Specialist to serve as the on-site technical lead for a critical Workday implementation at the Warsaw, Indiana or Troy, MI Manufacturing Facility. In this role, you will partner with the Workday Consultants to drive all configuration, testing, and go-live activities across Time Tracking, Absence, and Scheduling.
This role sits at the centre of two high-impact initiatives: transitioning hourly workers from biweekly to weekly payroll and deploying Workday Time, Absence, and Scheduling across a workforce of up to 2,000 employees. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across Manufacturing, Finance, Payroll, and the external Workday consulting team.
Core hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with additional availability expected to support testing. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis; visa sponsorship is not available.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on Workday configuration experience, with demonstrated expertise in Time Tracking & Absence, Payroll, and Scheduling workstreams.
- Previous experience supporting a manufacturing or industrial hourly workforce in Workday.
- Direct experience supporting a pay frequency change (e.g., biweekly to weekly) within the Workday platform.
- Direct experience configuring Period Schedules, Pay Groups, Run Categories, Time Entry Templates, Time Codes, Overtime Rules, and Accrual Plans.
- Experience with Workday Scheduling, including Schedule Tag Types and static scheduling.
- Familiarity with Workday Benefits configuration, including Benefit Groups and 401(k) election data conversion.
- Experience supporting or executing go-live activities including smoke-testing, End-to-End testing, production data conversion, and post-go-live support.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work on-site at the Warsaw, Indiana or Troy, MI manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
Time Tracking & Absence Management
- Review Time Tracking and Absence configuration to scope testing scenarios and identify impacted calculations.
- Partner with the Workday implementation consultants to review and validate a new pay period schedule and align a corresponding Pay Group to support the transition to a weekly payroll frequency for hourly employees.
- Review and test new Workweek definitions and review all Overtime rule calculations.
- Review and modify Time Entry Templates, Time Codes, and Calculation Rules to reflect the updated pay structure.
- Adjust Time Off Plans and accrual logic to align with the new weekly pay frequency.
- Collaborate with the external time clock vendor to ensure accurate time collection and integration data flow.
- Support Time and Absence-specific testing scenarios and participate in End-to-End testing.
- Execute go-live configuration and data conversion activities in the Production environment and provide post-launch support.
