The Lead Financial Systems Developer is responsible for supporting and enhancing Workday Financials across integrations, reporting, configuration, and core financial processes. This role serves as a key partner to Accounting and Finance, ensuring the integrity, scalability, and efficiency of financial data and systems. The role includes supporting Workday Financials configuration, including General Ledger (GL), Financial Data Model (FDM), Accounting Center, and business process frameworks, ensuring system design aligns with accounting requirements, internal controls, and reporting needs.
The role also includes hands-on building and supporting integrations in and out of Workday with internal and external systems related to accounting and financial operations. This involves identifying opportunities for automation, gathering business requirements, documenting technical requirements, developing integration solutions, unit testing, collaborating on User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and monitoring and resolving issues over time. The position collaborates with end users in Accounting, internal IT teams, and third-party technical teams and resides within Accounting as part of a small financial systems administration team.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Workday integrations.
- Gather requirements and architect solutions.
- Perform unit testing and collaborate with Accounting on User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Provide technical guidance on integration solutions and best practices.
- Develop and maintain data mappings, transformation logic, and integration documentation.
- Stay current with Workday releases, integration/development technologies, and best practices.
- Monitor production integration jobs to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Drive continuous improvement in integrations and process automation.
- Support governance, compliance, and documentation related to custom-built solutions (e.g., SOX).
- Communicate status, risks, and technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Create custom calculations and advanced reports to support integrations.
- Convey information accurately and effectively to others.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
- 7+ years of Workday experience with a strong focus on developing and enhancing integrations.
- Proven experience building Workday Studio integrations, EIB integrations, and Accounting Center Integrations.
- Experience working in or supporting corporate accounting operations.
Skills
- Experience building integrations with Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Orchestrate, and Accounting Center.
- Experience with scripting languages such as XSLT, XML, and JavaScript used in integrations.
- Experience with web integration tools using REST, RASS, and SOAP web services.
- Experience with Workday Report Writer to build Matrix, Advanced, and Composite Reports.
- Experience with Workday Discovery Boards, Worksheets, and Report Designer.
- Self-sufficient in researching technical documentation and soliciting support in the Workday Community and Developer Forum.
- Strong understanding of Workday’s security configuration and access controls.
- Experience configuring and managing Workday’s Business Process framework.
- Experience with Workday Customer Central to migrate configuration between tenants.
- Experience with AI tools (CoPilot, Claude, SONOS, etc.) for scripting and coding.
- Strong verbal communication, writing, and composition abilities.

Work Environment
- Working on-site at assigned office location.
- Regular and punctual attendance adhering to schedule established by leadership.
- Flexibility to work occasional adjusted work schedules, overtime, and evening and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines or as business needs demand.
- Working in a cubicle hub, maintaining focus on phone calls in a noisy environment within earshot of multiple other conversations.
- Sedentary work in a stationary position at a cubicle for prolonged periods of time.
- Constant repetitive motions required for operating a computer, such as typing and managing phone calls.
- Constantly communicating effectively verbally in English, including accurately exchanging information with others following identification of correct procedures.
