Work Control Supervisor
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an opportunity for a Work Control Supervisor supporting TOS II at Arnold AFB, Tennessee. The selected candidate will work as part of an integrated team responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. Open to internal candidates only.
About the Role
The Work Control Supervisor will function within the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) function of the Flight Branch. Responsibilities include supervising Work Management-related personnel, assisting in the development of O&M Work Management and Execution processes, and ensuring all work is executed safely, efficiently, and professionally across the TOS Contract, particularly in the Test Operations Mission area. This role involves long- and short-term work planning, coaching teams, and collaborating with project management to develop detailed MS Project plans and PET (Planning, Estimating, and Tracking) file estimates. The position may also support planning and scheduling for other crews or areas across AEDC as needed.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all individuals performing Work Management-related roles (e.g., Work Planners, Planner/Schedulers, Material Controllers, Downtime Controllers, Issuing Officials, and other O&M Specialists).
- Manage employee performance and results using company systems and tools.
- Provide leadership, guidance, mentoring, training, and development for assigned personnel in their functional roles.
- Recommend training plans for assigned personnel to meet current and future area needs.
- Assign work benefiting from planning to Work Planners.
- Coordinate scheduling of time off and backup capability for functional roles.
- Support the development of O&M Work Management and Execution processes and procedures across respective areas and AEDC.
- Provide input on the number of Work Control personnel needed for respective areas.
- Coordinate with other Work Control Supervisors to identify resource capability for supporting respective or other areas.
- Support the development of deployment scenarios for O&M employees.
- Identify process improvements to optimize deployment and performance of O&M employees.
- Assess progress against established goals and metrics related to work management processes (e.g., work backlog, prioritization, planning, crew scheduling, resource sharing).
- Ensure all work is executed safely, efficiently, effectively, and professionally across the TOS Contract.
- Maintain collaboration with Project Management & Engineering to deliver detailed MS Project plans and PET file estimates.
- Coordinate with Project Controls for budget, master work backlog, and facility schedules.
- Evaluate work backlog (approved work requests, PMs, corrective repairs, proactive follow-up work, minor modifications, capital projects) against standard work management processes.
- Work closely with Downtime Controllers on downtime/outage planning to ensure adequate detail and timely development.
- Coordinate with the Integrated Scheduling group to ensure proper information sharing.
- Create work orders for emergency and urgent work and coordinate execution with Craft Supervisors/Superintendents.
- Evaluate work requests for priority, validity, duplicity, and need; approve valid non-duplicate requests and assign priority.
- Create Work Orders for all other work ready to be scheduled or for CMMS-required reasons.
- Prioritize identified work within respective areas and coordinate outages to minimize facility downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Work with Craft Superintendents to gather feedback on work accomplished.
- Ensure proper tools and equipment, including specialized tools, are identified for work execution.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by company policy and supervisory direction.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Applicable Technical degree/diploma/craft certificate, or associate’s degree in a technical discipline and 13 years of progressive and relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 15 years.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including five years of progressive experience planning and scheduling work of craft personnel and seven years of relevant experience as Material Expeditor, Work Planner, Scheduler, Construction Manager, Maintenance Manager, and/or Craft Superintendent/Supervisor.
- Knowledge of AEDC industrial work processes, facilities, and equipment across test cells, plants, and utilities.
- Understanding of craft skill sets and jurisdictional guidelines for performing work tasks.
- Ability to acknowledge and address areas of improvement based on feedback and foster this mentality within the team.
- Current U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Applicable Technical craft degree/diploma/certificate, or associate’s degree in a technical discipline and 18 years of progressive and relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 22 years.
- Seven years of progressive experience planning and scheduling work and 10 years of relevant experience as Work Planner, Scheduler, Construction Manager, and/or Craft Superintendent/Supervisor.
- Ability to work self-directed with limited daily oversight.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, motivation, and organization.
- Ability to lead implementation of maintenance and reliability best practices, particularly in Work Management.
- Strong organizational skills considering priorities, facility impacts, personnel, and other resources.
- Clear and effective communication with craft personnel, supervisors, engineers, project managers, and management.
- Proficiency with PC systems, office software applications, and CMMS.
- Direct knowledge and experience with Flight Branch plants and facilities.
- Extensive knowledge of AEDC facilities, including test cells, plants, and utilities.
- Knowledge of multiple craft skills and specialized skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with CMMS (Work Order system, Crew Scheduling, Ordering Materials, Bills of Material).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, MS Project, Primavera).

Pay
$105,000 - $144,000 per year for full-time roles at Arnold Air Force Base, TN.
