Woodworker

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement woodworking projects appropriate for adults with varying physical, cognitive, and behavioral abilities
• Provide hands-on instruction and supervision to participants, always ensuring safety
• Adapt tools, materials, and processes to meet individual needs and promote accessibility
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (e.g., occupational therapists, program coordinators) to align activities with participants' rehabilitation goals
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free woodworking area
• Monitor and document participant progress, engagement, and any incidents or concerns
• Manage inventory of materials and tools, and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and therapeutic environment

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Additional training in woodworking or carpentry preferred
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly acquired brain injury, is highly desirable
• Demonstrated skills in woodworking, tool safety, and project planning
• Ability to communicate clearly and adapt instructions for diverse learning needs
• Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials up to 25 lbs; manual dexterity sufficient to demonstrate woodworking techniques and operate tools safely

Pay and Schedule

• This is a 1099 independent contractor position
• The pay range for this role is $25 - $30 per hour, based on experience, skill level, and project scope
• Hours are currently flexible and will be determined by mutual agreement
• Final compensation will be negotiated in good faith at the time of engagement
