Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement woodworking projects appropriate for adults with varying physical, cognitive, and behavioral abilities
- Provide hands-on instruction and supervision to participants, always ensuring safety
- Adapt tools, materials, and processes to meet individual needs and promote accessibility
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (e.g., occupational therapists, program coordinators) to align activities with participants' rehabilitation goals
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free woodworking area
- Monitor and document participant progress, engagement, and any incidents or concerns
- Manage inventory of materials and tools, and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and therapeutic environment
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Additional training in woodworking or carpentry preferred
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly acquired brain injury, is highly desirable
- Demonstrated skills in woodworking, tool safety, and project planning
- Ability to communicate clearly and adapt instructions for diverse learning needs
- Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials up to 25 lbs; manual dexterity sufficient to demonstrate woodworking techniques and operate tools safely
Pay and Schedule
- This is a 1099 independent contractor position
- The pay range for this role is $25 - $30 per hour, based on experience, skill level, and project scope
- Hours are currently flexible and will be determined by mutual agreement
- Final compensation will be negotiated in good faith at the time of engagement
