About the role
The City of Dallas seeks a dedicated individual to join our WIC clinic team. This role involves supervising clinic operations, assessing WIC Program eligibility, and providing Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessments. The position requires applying the Power of Influence principles and promoting breastfeeding.
Responsibilities
- Audits health history questionnaire and identifies low-risk factors.
- Provides Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment to low-risk WIC Program participants.
- Issues referrals according to LA High-Risk policy and to other appropriate health and social agencies.
- Approves the issuance of contract and non-contract formulas to WIC participants.
- Teaches group nutrition education and breastfeeding classes.
- Performs clerical duties related to eligibility, benefits, laboratory, and reception.
- Informs WIC Participants about the benefits of breastfeeding and assists with breastfeeding concerns.
- Counsels pregnant and breastfeeding moms, gathering information and answering questions.
- Identifies and makes referrals for breastfeeding experiences that are not the norm.
- Issues breastfeeding equipment and aids to WIC participants.
- Participates in nutrition and breastfeeding training/meetings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED.
- One year of WIC experience.
- State of Texas Driver's License.
Qualifications
- Bilingual language skills in English/Spanish/Asian preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the Power of Influence principles.
- Knowledge of WIC program and working with women, infants, and children.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete automated transactions.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $21.67 - $23.60 per hour. The actual salary will depend on qualifications.
