About the role
Eagle County is hiring 2 Benefits & Community Support Services Positions in our Human Services Department: Bilingual Benefits Processing Specialist and Bilingual Client Engagement Specialist. Applicants are encouraged to apply by Wed, July 8th, however, the job will be posted until filled.
Responsibilities
- Benefits Processing Specialist:
- Determining initial and continuing eligibility for Public Assistance programs including Medical Assistance, Food Assistance, Adult Financial, and Colorado Works in accordance with statutory and federal, state and local rules and regulations to assure timely and accurate eligibility determination.
- Case Management: Process applications, conduct interviews, and manage client cases effectively.
- Data Entry & Management: Perform data entry, utilize multiple databases, and maintain accurate records.
- Client Services: Provide excellent customer service to diverse clients, including those experiencing crises or challenges.
- Program Navigation: Navigate complex program rules and regulations, and stay informed on program updates.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community partners.
- Client Engagement Specialist:
- Handle direct client interactions through front desks (Eagle, Edwards, El Jebel), Call Center, central email/fax/mail and other customer portals including CO PEAK — the official web portal used to apply for and manage medical, food, cash or other State of Colorado benefits online.
- Provide exceptional customer service in-person, virtually, and by phone.
- Answer questions, schedule appointments, and resolve client issues.
- Manage client documents and referrals.
- Aid in public assistance programs like SNAP and Medicaid.
- Work independently and make sound decisions.
Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) language skills required, a bi-lingual skills test will be administered to confirm proficiency.
- High school graduate or equivalent, Associate’s Degree in public administration, business, behavioral science, or related field, preferred.
- At least two years full time experience in data entry, medical coding, order processing, bank teller, or other data input-centric roles; customer service; public assistance/human services or related fields or any combination of education, training and experience resulting in the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
- Completion of a degree program in business, behavioral science, or an appropriately related field may substitute for one year of required experience.
- Prior experience in the field of human services including working knowledge of state (specifically Colorado) human services databases/systems including CBMS and CHATS, preferred.
- Must possess a driver’s license and be able to obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within 1 month. A satisfactory motor vehicle record is also required.
- Requires travel to locations within Eagle County. Reliable transportation required.
